BALT 4396 - Week 8: Leveraging AI and Data Visualization for Professional Growth

Image
Leveraging AI and Data Visualization for Professional Growth Updating your LinkedIn profile after learning a new skill is critical for demonstrating your knowledge to potential employers, clients, and professional contacts. Adding applications like ChatGPT, Tableau, and Google Spreadsheets to your profile demonstrates your capacity to deal with cutting-edge technology, which are becoming increasingly important in fields such as project management, marketing, and data analytics. Demonstrating your ability to use ChatGPT for customer interactions, generative AI for issue solving, or Tableau for data visualization can dramatically increase your marketability in today's job market. These tools might help you stand out as someone who is ready to face real-world difficulties with modern answers. An updated LinkedIn profile indicates your commitment to ongoing professional development. This demonstrates to your network that you are proactive in learning and bringing value to your present...

BALT 4396 - Week 7 - Logos & AI

Image
In Week 7, I looked at the advantages of utilizing AI for logo creation and how it might help businesses. Artificial intelligence allows businesses to generate logos that reflect their personality and sector without the need for expensive human designers. For example, I utilized AI to swiftly create a logo for Instructional ABA Consultants (IABA), which is the ABA company I work for to give children with Autism therapy. This logo incorporates themes of child growth and behavioral advancement. AI logos are an excellent answer for startups because of their speed and cost-effectiveness. They help businesses to retain brand consistency across platforms. However, while AI provides numerous benefits, there are significant ethical problems to address. This week's readings highlighted how relying heavily on AI might disrupt creative industries and impact livelihoods, particularly for designers in developing nations. While AI-generated logos are quick and inexpensive, they can eliminate the...

Mathematics is foundational to artificial intelligence, providing the tools and models necessary for encoding, modeling, and processing information in ways that mimic human cognition. Essential mathematical areas like statistics, linear algebra, calculus, and probability are crucial for anyone aiming to work in AI, as they form the backbone of machine learning algorithms, neural networks, and natural language processing systems. AI offers a broad range of career paths, ensuring there's something for everyone interested in the field. Opportunities include designing robots, implementing machine learning algorithms, and engaging in ethical AI discussions. Common roles in AI include machine learning engineers, data scientists, AI researchers, natural language processing engineers, computer vision engineers, robotics engineers, AI product managers, AI ethics specialists, AI business analysts, and software developers. BALT 4396 - WEEK 5

Image
This week, I had the opportunity to listen to Professor Kelsey’s audio recording, which provided a comprehensive recap of our course so far. The recording was filled with valuable insights and key takeaways that I found particularly enlightening. Listening to the material in an audio format was especially beneficial because it helped me stay focused and engaged while commuting to school this morning. Rather than trying to read or take notes while on the go, I was able to absorb the content effortlessly, using the time productively. The audio format allowed me to concentrate on the core concepts without distractions, making it easier to retain the information. Overall, it was a highly effective way to reinforce my learning, and I appreciated being able to integrate study time seamlessly into my daily routine. Professor Kelsey then explored the benefits of pursuing advanced education, specifically focusing on a master’s degree in machine learning. While a strong background in abstract ma...

BALT 4396 - WEEK 4: AI Data Generation

Every few weeks or so, whenever my mom asks my dad that we have groceries to stock up on he either always asks how much she needs or after he gives a certain amount or gives his credit card, he complains about how much my mom spent. He forgets inflation exists in today's economy but this has been ongoing conversation for years. I asked Chat GPT to generate a data table for me with the data of 12 month food expenses for groceries in a household. Here is the total spent for each month. (I tried adding screenshots from my laptop to show exactly what my results looked like but technical difficulties so here is the data copied & pasted from Chat GPT.) Month Grocery Expenses ($) January 350 February 420 March 390 April 470 May 310 June 450 July 380 August 520 September 340 October 480 November 400 December 550 I then asked to include specifics of what was bought and how much it costed.  January ($350) Fruits: $50 Vegetables: $40 Dairy: $60 Meat/Fish: $80 Other Essentials (snacks,...

When searching for a job or internship it's essential to be strategic. Start by customizing your resume and cover letter for each position, focusing on relevant skills and experiences. Utilize your network, including university career services, alumni, and LinkedIn connections. Getting involved in personal projects, open-source work, or volunteering can also help you stand out. Apply early and frequently to maximize your chances in this competitive landscape.  AI, on the otherhand, is set to transform the workforce more quickly than we might expect. However, instead of viewing it as an impending threat, we can leverage AI to our advantage. One of AI's most valuable contributions is its ability to support career development. For job seekers, AI can assist in various ways, such as job matching by identifying roles that align with your skills and experience, tailoring your resume to optimize it for specific positions, and even helping with interview preparation by offering practic...

Week 2 BALT 4396- Reconsidering Majors

Being a psych major, I plan to get my masters in clinical psychology to become a Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC)  The job outlook for LPCs is very strong. Employment in this field is expected to grow by 18% from 2022 to 2032, which is faster than the average for most occupations. This growth is driven by a greater need for mental health services in schools, hospitals, and community centers. More people are becoming aware of mental health issues, and the stigma around seeking help is decreasing, making this a growing field. When it comes to salary, the average LPC in the United States earns about $71,915 per year. However, salaries can vary depending on location. For example, in Illinois, LPCs earn an average of $84,006 per year. These differences can be due to factors like the cost of living and the demand for mental health services in different areas. Automation and artificial intelligence (AI) pose little risk to this profession. There's only about a 10% risk that mental h...
